The Two Popes is an intelligent, warm, and beautifully acted drama that turns a series of conversations into something surprisingly compelling. Rather than relying on spectacle, the film succeeds through dialogue, character, humor, and the contrast between two very different approaches to faith, leadership, and change.

Anthony Hopkins is excellent as Pope Benedict XVI, portraying him as reserved, traditional, intellectually rigorous, and at times quietly vulnerable. Jonathan Pryce is equally impressive as Cardinal Jorge Bergoglio, the future Pope Francis, bringing warmth, humility, humor, and a more pastoral outlook to the role.
