Ali Marvi served as a member of the Islamic Consultative Assembly during its 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 9th terms—representing the constituency of Nishapur and Firuzeh in Razavi Khorasan Province—and chaired the Parliament's Energy Commission; he also served as Deputy Minister of Petroleum during the Ahmadinejad administration. He is the brother of Mohammad-Bagher Marvi, a veteran member of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), and the father of Hamidreza Marvi, who has resided in the United States for many years and currently works at Arizona State University.
